Abstract: Riverboats travelling upstream on the Tocantins river in the Amazon region (Pará). The equatorial forest, the tropical environment, and limited exploitable resources, have restricted the development of much of the North and CentralWest. At the same time, the building of major highways and the uncontrolled movement of landless settlers and destructive logging enterprises has caused serious concerns about the region's ecological future.Barcos viajando rio acima no Tocantins na Região Amazônica (Pará).
