Abstract: Agriculture provides a livelihood for more than 1 million of Haiti’s 9.7 million people and is the source of some 50% of jobs nationwide, yet its productivity is among the lowest in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), along with other international entities, are providing Haiti with funding not only for agricultural projects, but also for projects that involve modernizing the country's educational and health systems, as well as the energy sector and its infrastructure.
