Doña Ana Community College (DACC) commissioned the University of New Mexico Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) to analyze the economic impact of its operations and capital projects on the Doña Ana county economy for fiscal year (FY) 2011. DACC, a branch campus of New Mexico State University, offers postsecondary vocational-technical education. Using IMPLAN 3.0 economic modeling software, BBER did an input-output analysis of DACC revenues and expenditures in the county. The study found that DACC'S direct, indirect, and induced impacts include 1,189 jobs; $26.6 million of income; and $76.4 million in economic output during FY11. BBER calculations also show that DACC directly and indirectly generated an estimated $1.55 million in gross receipt tax and $1.2 million in property tax revenues for local governments in Doña Ana County. Additionally, DACC makes substantial contributions to the local economy through: the increased earnings of its graduates who work and live in the county, a better-educated and skilled local workforce, and its role in attracting businesses and industries to the surrounding area. Appendices to the report include lists of DACC degree and certificate programs; training, business, and community service programs; tables with data on the earnings, employment status, and educational attainment of Doña Ana County residents and DACC graduates.en_US
