Abstract

The research on women in positions of leadership in higher education in Monterrey, Mexico is scarce. This study identifies the significant life experiences of two women leaders in Mexican universities and how these experiences contributed to assume their leadership positions. This study used qualitative research through the construction of the life history of each woman who participated. The findings provide information about their experiences in family life, educational life and work life as well as cultural barriers and reference models of these women leaders.
