21) Vitória Regia waterlilies in the Jardim Botânico. Founded in 1808 by Dom João VI, these Praça Floriano were built during this period. During the 1980s, the subway construction razed the Cinelândia area.21) Vitória Régia no Jardim Botânico. Fundado em 1808 por D. João VI, o Jardim Botânico abriga a flora de diversas regiões do Brasil, e o seu centro de pesquisas está entre as instituições científicas mais antigas do país. Durante a estada de treze anos de D. João VI no Brasil, ruas foram pavimentadas, jardins foram plantados, e vários edifícios públicos foram construídos.
