The distinct feature of the baroque architecture that developed in Minas Gerais and which was characteristic of Aleijadinho's work, was the substitution of the curve for the straight line.15) A arcada esculpida acima da entrada da Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo. A característica distinta da arquitetura barroca, que foi desenvolvida em Minas Gerais, e que era típica dos trabalhos de Aleijadinho, era a substituição da curva por uma linha reta.
