Abstract: This article has three purposes: (1) to determine the impact of the partisan election on the retention of judges nominated by a commission and appointed by a governor; (2) to determine the influence of the nomination-appointment process on electoral results; and (3) to determine how women and minority lawyers fared under the new compromise system.
